We advise on Powerstar voltage optimisation systems in conjunction with EMSc (Energy Management Systems) to ensure voltage coming into the building is stepped down to the correct level required and understand how this must be set up with Solar PV in accordance with DNO regulations. LED lighting solutions can play a big part in reducing loads with savings of 70-90% over existing incandescent bulbs whilst actually providing much brighter cool white light especially effective for office environments, auto-switch on and off sensors in hallways and battery back up LED lights for server rooms. LED lighting also significantly increases security via LED flood lights that can be run all night at a fraction of the cost of conventional security lights.
Smart sensors can switch on Water heaters during excess electricity generation to drive heating elements to provide free hot water, or heat towel rails and electric storage heaters.
Excess generation can also be stored via battery based systems to be utilised later in the day or provide backup power working in-conjunction with UPS systems for key IT systems, processes, server rooms and lighting.
As the Government backed Feed-In Tariffs & Domestic along with Commercial Renewable Heat Incentives continue to reduce – it will become increasingly more important to ensure the power that is generated is used as intelligently as possible. The system is networked via a router and an SMA Home Manager and then linked to SMA Sunny Portal web monitoring and intelligent management. Loads can be set switch on automatically during periods of excess generation. The SMA Home Manager uses inverter logs, system status and accurate weather forecasting to make reliable decisions on loads.
Power is stepped down via a VO4Home 3-Phase in-line Voltage Optimiser reducing Grid voltage from a high 245V down to 230V which reduces overal power usage by around 7-10% as well as reduced electrical issues as kit runs more efficiently. An SMA EnergyMeter records power usage 24/7 and multiple Apollo Gem Smart Heaters divert excess generation to deliver free hot water through 8 months of the year. Savings are further optimised via super efficient, bright LED lighting throughout.
It is really the combination of the above technologies in conjunction with proper integration deploying our workflow principles & IT Management that has allowed us to easily achieve our goal of halving our electric bill.
